- Spectres of Capitalism - a critique of current intellectual fashions, av

og (men den bør kanskje leses sammen med kritikken for å undervurdere
miljøproblemene; f.eks. fra John Bellamy Foster i Monthly Review no 2, vol
50 (june 1998), som jeg jo kan kopiere opp:
- Science and the retreat from reason, av John Gillott og Manjit Kumar ($18)
(fra "vaskeseddelen:....Providing a clear and accessible introduction to
key areas of modern scientific thought, the authors challenge this new fear
and loathing (of new science). They argue that such attitudes, especially
in biology, have been reinforced by anti-rational interpretations of
quantum mechanics, chaos og complexity theories. In response, they make a
new case for "progress" through the development of humanity's understanding
av shaping of the physical world - made possible by scientific research and
experimentation."
Når jeg skrive prisen er det fordi M.R. Press gjorde en feil og sendte
dobbelt sending (av disse og noen til), i stedet for å returnere til USA
vil jeg prøve å selge og sende pengene til MR Press som trenger dem.
Jeg bor i Trondheim, og kan sende. Endel av disse kan en også muligens
skaffe seg på bibliotek (universitets b. i alle fall)

(fra vaskeseddel:....Leibovitz and Finkel challenge the familiar
understanding of Munich as the product of a naive "appeasement" of Nazi
appetites. They argue that it was the culmination of cynical collaboration
between the Tory government and the Nazis in the 1930s. Based upon a
careful reading of official and unofficial correspondanse, conference
notes, cabinet minutes, and diaries, "In Our Time" documents the steps
taken under diplomatic cover by the West to strike a bargein with Hitler
besed upon shared Anti-Sovjet premises...."
