Majority of Dutch against euro

Slightly more than half of the Dutch would vote a g a i n s t the
introduction of the euro if that opportunity was available to them
today. That is the outcome of a 2Vandaag/NIPO poll. 53% says 'no' to the
euro, about one third (31%) would vote 'yes' to the new currency. When
asked about their confidence in the euro, 36% said to have "little
confidence" and 38% "very little confidence". Two thirds of the
respondents (63%) expects life will become more expensive after the
introduction of the new currency in January 2002.

MEERDERHEID NEDERLANDERS TEGEN EURO
Iets meer dan de helft van de
vandaag Nederlanders zou t e g e n de
invoering van de Euro stemmen als hun die
mogelijkheid werd geboden.Dat blijkt
uit een 2Vandaag/NIPO-enquete.
53 procent zegt 'nee' tegen de Euro,
ongeveer eenderde (31 procent) zou 'ja'
zeggen tegen de nieuwe munteenheid.
Gevraagd naar het vertrouwen in de
Euro zegt 36 procent "weinig vertrouwen" en
38 procent een "beetje vertrouwen" te
hebben.Tweederde van de ondervraagden
(63 procent) verwacht dat het leven na
de invoering van de munt,in januari
2002,duurder zal worden.
