PLO, PA og CIA

In April 1983, the Lebanese Islamic resistance blew up the American embassy
in Beirut. At least 7 CIA officers, including Mr. Ames, were killed.
Though PLO-CIA cooperation continued, the death of Mr. Salameh and his
American contacts in Lebanon was a big blow to US intelligence operations
in the region. The present CIA training program with the Palestinian
Authority is intended among other things to re-establish and strengthen
these connections.

In addition to increasing the "professionalism" of Arafat's security forces
and improving their ability to identify and arrest potential guerilla
fighters, the Palestinian-CIA collaboration, as defined by the Americans,
is designed to increase the Israeli confidence in the Palestinian
Authority. Our Palestinian intelligence services have given the Americans
all that they wished to know but were afraid to ask! About everything! We
kept no secret from our "friends". With the PLO Chairman's blessings and
encouragement, we spied against all Palestinian organizations fighting
Israel including Fatah. We discriminated against no groups or individuals.
We gave American agents the locations and hideouts of our leaders and
intellectuals. Ghassan Kanafani, Kamal Nasser, Abu Jihad, Abu Iyad and
Yahya Ayyash (the engineer) are only a few examples of prominent figures
that we lost in the process.

Our Palestinian intelligence services, together with the Americans and
Israelis, worked in harmony and coordination. All credit for the capture
and murder of our fighting men and women on their way to their targets
should not be given to the efficiency and ingenuity of the Israeli Mossad.
We have played the major role and took on the dirty and difficult work. We
provided most of the data. We gave our American "colleagues" accurate
names, descriptions, dates, plans and locations. Because of the valuable
tips that we provided, most of the time the Israeli "enemy" soldiers were
impatiently waiting and safely hiding! Our fighters had no chance. An
announcement over our PLO radio, that speaks of a job well done by our
heroic martyrs before their ascension to heaven, and military music
solemnly follow.

Information of infrequent operations our people conducted went through the
cracks. The PLO services could not infiltrate and report in time so our
"friends" could take the necessary precautionary measures. Of course, we
carried out a few operations that we intentionally kept secret. All
parties concerned Arabs, Americans and Jews, were fully aware and were in
agreement. There were occasions in which our young men and women were left
to successfully accomplish their missions. There were certain times when
our PLO leadership felt that they needed to show our Palestinian masses
that the Palestinian "Revolution" is alive and kicking. Arafat had to
demonstrate to our people that their sacrifices and willingness to fight
and die for the cause are not in vain and could pay dividends.

Late Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan attributed our "stupidity" to the
absurdity that we Arabs do not read! And if we read, we do not understand!
And if we understood, we do nothing!

We have recently met with Arafat and are convinced that our "President" is
seriously ill. His lower lip was continuously and visibly shaking. He did
not seem to concentrate. We are "heartbroken". We wish him good luck and
a lasting "peace".

Obviously, our leader needs and deserves a rest now. His 33 year old
marriage to the Palestinian Revolution should end. The marriage
unfortunately never worked. The Revolution wishes to be free and the
property of no one. Anyway, Arafat's new wife prefers Paris to Gaza City.
He should join Suha and their daughter Zahrah in the French capital. Gaza
is a terrible place for having a family and raising children!
