USA bruker brannbomber kalt "fattigmanns atombombe". Har noen hørt mer om
dette?

US Drops 'Poor Man's Nuclear Bomb'

America is using a devastating new weapon on Taliban troops - the 'Daisy
Cutter' fire bomb.
Known in defence circles as 'the poor man's nuclear weapon', the 15,000
pound (6,800 kg) bombs explode in a fiery mix of air and fuel metres above
the ground
Confirmation of their use coincides with the US more than doubling the
number of Special Forces soldiers in Aghanistan.
"We will deal decisively with these mass murderers," Mr Rumsfeld told a
Pentagon news briefing, stressing that it would take months and not years to
defeat the Taliban and rid Afghanistan of al Qaeda.
Mr Rumsfeld, who only last month conceded Osama bin Laden may never be
caught and that the Taliban was proving a tougher opponent than first
thought, appeared far more confident.
Marine Corps General Peter Pace, vice chairman of the US military joint
chiefs of staff, said two daisy cutter bombs had been used against military
targets in the past week.
"As you would expect, they make a heck of a bang when they go off - the
intent is to kill people," General Pace said.
The bombs are dropped out of C-130 aircraft and Mr Rumsfeld revealed the US
military had more than doubled its initial 100-strong force of Special
Operations troops in Afghanistan.
He said more were ready to move in when weather allowed to pinpoint targets
for a further bombing campaign.
There were now 120 bombing missions a day in the escalating, month-long bomb
and cruise missile attacks against the country's ruling Taliban and the al
Qaeda terrorist network it protects.
He said US special forces troops were spotting Taliban targets near Northern
Alliance lines and supplying the opposition with weapons, ammunition and
food.
