Matlab/Simulink

Spring 2005
MATLAB/SIMULINK with several toolboxes is available at the ITK datalab. To get access to the datalab you must be registered as user at the Department of Engineering Cybernetics. Contact the department office at the first floor in block D in the Electro building if you are not already registered.

MATLAB/SIMULINK licenses for home-PC (for students). Note that the ITK license contains more toolboxes (these are necessary) than the NTNU site license. A web-page with practical information about ITK Licenses and how to install programs at your home-PC, see also

Learn Matlab/SIMULINK on your own:
This section is meant to be a help to those who want to try Matlab/Simulink on their own. If you haven't used matlab before it may be worth while to start with the basic features of the software.
The books "Learn MATLAB 5 in 6 hours!" and "Learn SIMULINK 2 in 3 hours" by Finn Haugen are recommended.
There is also a more thorough introduction to Matlab from Itea. It can be a good idea to solve some simple exercises before starting on the more advanced computer assignments. The following exercise should be possible to solve without too much experience with Matlab and Control Theory:

Shared Matlab files:

Linear programming: LP(zip)
Quadratic programming: QP(zip)
Nonlinear programming: Nonlinear (zip)
Dynamic programming (QP): Dynamic(zip)
Simulink files: sie3030_heli.mdl (simulink)
Other: initF.m

TechTeach Exercises related to the text book and other relevant literature can be found here.
ITEA Has Matlab that the students can copy to their own computers. Links to other Matlab resources .
Mathworks They have made the software.
Control Tutorials for Matlab Some examples on what matlab can be used for. Require the control toolbox (should be installed at most Matlab data labs)
Matlab hypertext reference Someone that has made a useful introduction to Matlab.
Control Toolbox Finn Haugen has made an introduction to the control toolbox in Matlab. It contains functions that can be useful. A good introduction that should also be appropriate for new Matlab users.
