TO: All supporters of The Irish Peace Process
David Trimble and the unionist parties are forwarding an
indictment requesting that Sinn Féin be removed from the
peace negotiations. This is a unionist tactical objective
aimed at preventing any meaningful change in the status quo in
Ireland. The unionists have continuously sought to subvert
the peace process.
Here are the facts:
-- Sinn Féin is entitled to represent their constituency at the
peace negotiations based solely on their electoral mandate.
-- For over one year, loyalist paramilitaries have murdered
innocent people - men, women and children. The RUC have
made no arrests and have not provided any forensic evidence
on the weapons used in these murders. All we have received
from the RUC is SILENCE!
-- Yet, within hours, the chief of the RUC - a discredited and
predominantly loyalist/protestant police force is suddenly
capable of identifying those responsible for the two recent
murders.
-- The IRA have not violated their ceasefire since July 1997.
The IRA ceasefire is still intact.
-- Whoever is responsible for the tragic murders, RUC boss
Ronnie Flanagan cannot lay blame at Sinn Féin's door.
-- Sinn Féin has not violated the Mitchell Principles.
-- Sinn Féin is committed to peaceful means in their pursuit
of a lasting peaceful settlement with justice.
Let your voice be heard!
This attempt by the UUP leadership to exclude Sinn Féin from
the peace negotiations is completely unacceptable to the
American people and the international community.
Justice must prevail!
Without Sinn Féin - there are no peace talks.
